One of the things I, perhaps, miss about shooting film is the uncertainty that I got it right. Digital does relieve some of that anxiety, but I still discover things that were not revealed in the small-screen preview.
This was shot on my cell phone, using grey-scale setting. I sent it straight to the web without the safety net of big-screen or Photoshop. I think there is some artistic merit or, at least, craft discipline in such a practice. I don’t suggest always shooting this way, but on occasion, as an exercise.
I’m making a project of using the phone camera for a while. My next trick is to catch up on portraits – let’s watch me try to convince strangers that I really am a photographer and a cell phone is a real camera.
